Can absences be excused?

Yes, excused absences typically include medical appointments, family emergencies, religious observances, Parallel Programs (pre-approved activity), planned travel, court hearings, illness/quarantine, and a few other valid reasons.

Parents should notify the ASES Site Supervisor as soon as possible about an anticipated absence.  For pre-approved absences due to scheduled extra curricular activities, parents must fill out and submit a “Parallel Program Request Form”.  For some absences, documentation (e.g., a doctor’s note) may be required.  Open communication with the ASES staff is encouraged to address any questions or concerns.  Excessive “unexcused absences” will result in a student being dropped from the program.

If an appointment is scheduled during the program, please inform your Site Supervisor that your child may be leaving early or absent from the program.  This is considered an excused absence and will be documented that way in our system.
